Q - When should I book the accommodation?
A - Accommodation bookings should be requested at least 4 weeks prior to the student's arrival date.
Q - What is the minimum and maximum stay?
A - Minimum stay is 4 weeks. Maximum stay depends on the provider, please confirm with the Accommodation Team.
Q - When should I pay the accommodation fees?
A - Payments should be done at least 4 weeks prior to the student's arrival date.
Q - When will I receive the accommodation placement details?
A - Placement reports will be available within 1-2 weeks prior to the student’s arrival date.
(Note: you can receive the placement report on the week of the arrival)
Q - Do I need to provide the flight details?
A - Yes, students must provide the flight details at least 2 weeks prior to their arrival. Accommodation providers start on completing the placement once they receive your arrival details.
Q - What are the accommodation fees?
A -
- Homestay fees are based on a minimum of 4 weeks' stay. The first 4 weeks of the homestay fees are not refundable if you cancel your accommodation after your homestay booking starts or if you leave the accommodation before the end of these first 4 weeks.
- Student Share Accommodation stays are a minimum of four (4) weeks. Four (4) weeks' rent has to be paid in advance and it is not refundable.
Q - Are there any extra fees to be paid?
A- Homestay fees include accommodation, utilities, and preferred meal board package. There are no extra fees for cleaning, laundry, or bedding packs.
For Long term accommodation (IGLU), a bond deposit of $500 for student share accommodation is applicable and must be paid directly to the provider upon arrival. The bond is refundable on departure subject to a satisfactory exit report.
For Short term accommodation (2Stay), a Check-out Cleaning Fee of $80 per person for Student Residence and $150 per Studio is applicable and needs to be paid in advance with the booking fee and 4 weeks' rent.
For Shared apartment accommodation (Student One), a cleaning fee is only applicable if a student fails the departure inspection. Cleaning costs start from $240.
Bedding packs including blankets might not be included in student share accommodation but may be purchased for an additional fee.
Q - Will the price of my accommodation increase?
A- Please be advised that our accommodation providers may change fees twice or more per year at any time, or in short notice that may be influenced by the following factors: Current rental crisis, Increased cost of living, and Accommodation shortage. Any rate increase will always be advertised in advance.
Q - How does Homestay work?
A- When living in a homestay you will be provided with your own room, with a place to study and meals (if required), in a welcoming and friendly environment. Whilst living with your host family you will communicate and get to know each other. You will learn about the local area, community, and customs.
Q - How long do I have to stay with my host?
A- Homestay placements are initially for 28 nights, with the majority lasting for around three months. Some students decide to extend, whilst others choose to move into their own accommodation.
Q - What happens if I want to change or leave my homestay?
A- To change or leave a Homestay after the first 4 weeks, the host must be given at least 2 weeks (14 days) notice or paid 2 weeks instead of notice.
Q - What should I do if I want to extend my stay within the accommodation?
A- If you would like to extend your accommodation, please let the homestay and accommodation provider know 2 weeks prior to the end of stay or reach out to the Accommodation team for assistance.
Q - How close will I live to the school?
A - Travel Distance - many homestay families are situated in quiet suburban locations outside of the city centre. It will be expected to travel up to 60 minutes on public transport in order to reach the school.
Q- Do you offer airport pick-up?
A- Yes, our providers AHN, Student One, and 2Stay offer airport pick-up. Fees apply for this service.
Q - Are the fees refundable?
A - Once a booking is made, the Booking Fee is NOT refundable under any circumstances except for visa refusal. The refund policy depends on the accommodation providers. Please request our accommodation team.
Q - Will you refund my holding deposit If I don’t get a visa?
A- If you require your homestay host’s details before your visa is granted and your visa is subsequently refused, the first 2 weeks homestay fees are non-refundable. Any refund of homestay fees will be given at the discretion of EU/APC.
