The census date is a very important date for you to be aware of! The Census day is the last day on which you can withdraw from your course or part of course without having to pay tuition fees for the course or part of the course.
The census date is set by the provider for each unit of study it provides or intends to provide during a year and can be no earlier than 20 percent of the way through a unit of study. It is usually the 11th day of term, Monday of Week 3 each term (14 days after the term starts). The census date may differ if you have a mid-term start.
The first census date for a course, or a part of a course, is the last day you can complete the eCAF to apply for a VET Student Loan for your course.
Each term the census date is the last day you can withdraw your enrolment without incurring a debt for that study term.
Find the census date published on the Fee Schedule for each course on our website. The census date will appear on your VSL Fee Notices and Commonwealth Assistance Notices (CANs).
