Academic Integrity: Upholding Values and Standards
Academic integrity is the behaviour displayed by someone when they create academic information or undertake an academic exercise. The International Centre for Academic Integrity in 2014 defined it as “a commitment, even in the face of adversity, to six fundamental values: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage.”
(Academic Integrity Policy)
As a student of our College, we expect you to uphold these values and acknowledge that you will strive to produce original work in all your academic assignments, while properly acknowledging or referencing the work of others in accordance with the Academic Policy.
- Honesty & Respect: When referencing or paraphrasing the work and ideas of others, it is crucial to do so correctly and give proper credit.
- Trust & Courage: Have confidence in your own abilities and knowledge. Demonstrate courage by relying on your understanding and learning capabilities to tackle all questions, striving for the best possible outcomes.
- Fairness & Responsibility: Take responsibility for recognising and acknowledging the original owners of work and ideas. Ensure that your submitted work is not copied from other students' assessments or external resources.
By upholding these principles of academic integrity, you contribute to maintaining a high standard of learning and fairness within our College community.
To ensure compliance with the Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure and the Student Code of Conduct, the College reserves the right to conduct academic integrity checks on student submissions. These checks aim to ensure authenticity and adherence to the required standards.
